# Use cases

Ylem is an industry-agnostic data streaming software that multiple departments inside an organization can benefit from.

Therefore our functionality covers a broad variety of business use cases. We split them into three groups to simplify your access to the best practice ones you are looking for to solve your challenge:

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden></th><th data-hidden></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Messaging patterns</strong></td><td></td><td></td><td><a href="/pages/JNd0iRWRL35ULHF4qcoB">/pages/JNd0iRWRL35ULHF4qcoB</a></td><td><a href="/files/hxRakf4x82tGWIDJsMJD">/files/hxRakf4x82tGWIDJsMJD</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Functional use cases</strong></td><td></td><td></td><td><a href="/pages/CtpPeHByQeM2bZWH42at">/pages/CtpPeHByQeM2bZWH42at</a></td><td><a href="/files/Kpts71VA4hHmZ9BfaFY1">/files/Kpts71VA4hHmZ9BfaFY1</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Industry-specific use cases</strong></td><td></td><td></td><td><a href="/pages/TCB8udDFLLq4g86Zp85k">/pages/TCB8udDFLLq4g86Zp85k</a></td><td><a href="/files/dgWzCu9dzo2uYjOpiXTS">/files/dgWzCu9dzo2uYjOpiXTS</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

Many of these use cases are also available in our [library of templates](/pipelines/library-of-templates.md) in the product and you can re-use them to build your pipelines.
